Virginia Department of Energy has partnered with Virginia Solar Initiative to host a two-part webinar series designed to empower Virginia's rural communities to access federal clean energy funding opportunities. The first webinar provided in-depth information for rural communities about US Department of Energy’s Energizing Rural Communities Prize and highlighted other upcoming funding opportunities. The second webinar provided detailed information about several funding opportunities for rural businesses, agricultural producers, and rural areas.

WEBINAR PART II: Clean energy funding for rural businesses and agricultural producers

This webinar, the second in a two-part series, provides information on upcoming clean energy funding opportunities for agricultural producers, rural small businesses and rural areas in Virginia. 

On June 20, 2023, the Weldon Cooper Center and the Virginia Department of Energy hosted a webinar to introduce several upcoming federal funding opportunities for rural businesses and agricultural producers, including a $1 billion fund (U.S. Dept. of Agriculture), to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, and a $50 million dollar fund (U.S. Dept. of Energy) to advance community-based energy projects in rural and remote areas. Speakers also presented on tax incentives and other upcoming funding opportunities.

WEBINAR PART I: Clean energy funding for rural communities

This webinar was the first in a two-part series designed to empower Virginia's rural communities to access federal clean energy funding opportunities. To learn more about this prize opportunity and possible partnerships in Virginia, please visit the Virginia Forum on the Energizing Rural Communities Prize website

On April 12, 2023, the Weldon Cooper Center and the Virginia Department of Energy hosted a webinar to introduce the Energizing Rural Communities Prize, a federal funding opportunity that will provide $15 million in support to individuals, universities, tribal and local governments, and other community organizations. This prize aims to support the development of partnership plans or innovative financing strategies to improve energy systems and advance clean energy demonstration projects in rural communities.
